Greetings Our Lady of Loretto Elementary community! I am truly honored, humbled, and excited to be working with you and your children as the new principal. I feel so blessed that once again, I get to be a part of the school’s rich history-as I was once a student, altar server, teacher, parent, Vice Principal, and parishioner for so many years. Our Lady of Loretto has truly been a home to me and it is my goal to continue its legacy of providing academic and spiritual opportunities, experiences, and valuable life lessons that only a Catholic education could provide. But I cannot do this alone, together as a community of students, families/parents, teachers/staff, administration, and the parish community we will accomplish just that!
My experience in education spans more than 22 years within the Archdiocese of Los Angeles in the capacities of teacher, Vice-Principal, Dean of Discipline, WASC (Western Association of Schools and Colleges) team leader and have accredited several other catholic schools. I have several years experience as well under CYO (Catholic Youth Organization) as a certified referee and coach for youth sports such as basketball, baseball, football and track and field. I am a veteran having served in the United States Coast Guard and from my time there it has given me the discipline and drive to give everything I do my utmost best and respect to everyone I encounter students, Parents, teachers/staff and the parish community. I am blessed with 2 grown children-Elaine 30 and Carlos Jr. 25, my grandson Oliver Gotham 10 months and another grandchild on the way.
I am a product of a catholic school education, my elementary years here at Our Lady of Loretto and throughout my high school. This spiritual foundation has instilled in me that GOD is my main source of strength and courage in life and a deep devotion to our Blessed Mother and St. Anthony. I regard service to the church of utmost importance, and I try to live that teaching as an altar server during my younger days, a certified Catechist, Eucharistic Minister, Youth Minster, Retreat Facilitator and just recently Ordained Minister. Together with the school’s dedicated teachers and staff, my hope is to set an example to the students of Loretto about our Faith and answer to the Gospel’s message of serving others.
My main goal for this upcoming school year, though it may be very different from any other we all have ever experienced, is to develop a passion in the students to find new discoveries across the curriculum, foster excitement in learning new things, be adept in the use of technology as our education will be “remote learning” and use these skills to prepare them well for the next grade level and onto high school. This can all be done as we work together hand in hand-students, parents, teachers/staff, and administration to achieve this goal with Jesus and the Blessed Mother as our inspiration and motivation.
Once again, I am truly excited to be working with all of you for the 2020-2021 school year, with our collaborative effort between home and school, student learning will be achieved. Thank you in advance for your committed support and cooperation in paving the way for your child’s catholic school education into a faith filled success.
Thank you and God Bless,
Mr. Carlos Loaiza
